This is the second post in the series of Neighborhood Chats that I started in October. My intent is to provide readers with possible insights into what life is like in each of the many neighborhoods of the South Bay. Today’s chat is with Sky Catherine Taten, a resident of the Hollywood Riviera area of Redondo Beach. She currently lives there with her husband and their one year old son.
Tony: Skye, thank you for agreeing to chat with me about Hollywood Riviera. How long have you lived in the South Bay? Where did you come here from?
Skye: I came to this area about 10 years ago from VA. I lived in Hollywood and later Beverly Hills for a short while before moving down to Manhattan Beach.
Tony: What areas did you look into before deciding on the Redondo Beach portion of Hollywood Riviera?
Skye: We both very much enjoy the South Bay so we checked out Manhattan, Hermosa, and Redondo. The beaches are all great and we love the people in the beach community.
Tony: What was it about this area that first drew you in?
Skye: At first it was the idea that we could get a good size lot and a pool. This wasn’t as easy elsewhere. After checking the area out a few times, we really started to like so much more like the access to hiking trails, and things like just seeing butterflies and the eucalyptus trees so close to the beach. It feels like we are really able to connect to nature here…
Tony: What are some of the highlights of this area that make living here so special?
Skye: In addition to all of the things that I just mentioned, we have really grown to appreciate the neighborhood. We’ve made a lot of great new friends…
Tony: Is there anything that you would like to add?
Skye: We’re really enjoying raising our son here. We just celebrated his first birthday at the house and had a blast…
Tony: Great and thank you again.
Skye: My pleasure.
Skye, her husband Bryce, and their son, Kai, have lived in Hollywood Riviera for over two years now.
